Please meet Zabba who will be 2 in October. She is microchipped and spayed and we are told fully vaccinated. This is what our volunteer had to say about her:
“Well, she is a17 month old pup – very bouncy (has a dog walker but only takes her on lead walks, so not able to let off steam anytime/place). She does not have boundaries and gets away with murder. I do not believe she is vicious or aggressive, but she does jump up constantly when you meet her and if you ignore her she can mouth. She does nip occasionally to get your attention but again not vicious.
Apparently out on a walk she can be reactive to everything and lunging to get at them and if held back will bite the arm of the walker in frustration – again I do not believe it is aggression, just frustration as she can easily become over stimulated at anything. She is now muzzled on walks.
Her mother died in giving birth to her and her 9 siblings, they were hand-reared and I do not think socialised with other dogs etc as they should have been. She has not been socialised properly with current owners, they are older and not good health-wise and therefore cannot walk her and admit they are soft with her – so she has the upper hand.
She is very affectionate when she settles, but it takes time. You can tell she is very intelligent and will with hard work and boundaries (ie starting off from the very beginning) make someone a wonderful pet. I think she would love agility. I would not home her with children, when any come to the house she goes into her crate and settles well – she will go into the crate of her own accord when in the house and sleeps in it and is shut in it when they go out – it is huge!.
She needs an experienced owner willing to put in the effort to get the dog she can be …. She could benefit from an older dog but would suggest a couple of meets etc as she is so bloody hyper!”
