May I introduce Lucy who is 5 years old according to her microchip. She is spayed, microchipped and vaccinations have been started. She is also due to have some small mammary masses removed in the next couple of weeks.

Lucy came across to us from another rescue to make space for them to be able to take more dogs in and this is what we were told about her:

“5yr old female. Came to us from a farm where she’d mostly been in kennels. We have very limited info about her history I’m afraid.

Very friendly, very ball orientated (has apparently been tested by police in the early days but didn’t pass the assessment for working dog, we don’t have anymore info about it).

She has met other dogs here but is very unsure, so we feel she’d be best homed as an only dog but have walking pals. No aggression, just lots of appeasements.

She’s been spayed last week, but she does have some small mammary masses that will need another surgery in a couple of weeks. “

Lucy has been super with everyone she has met to date and definitely loves her ball!

This is what our volunteers have to say about her:

“This girl is gorgeous 😍

Today was all about building trust and connection, as she can be a little unsure at times.
The exercises played with her are designed to be easy. To help her build a relationship in proximity with us and yet to help that busy brain of hers stay focused, without mindless ball throwing, that would be really bad for her joints.
Lucy is still being fully assessed and needs a small op before being put up for rehoming. But when she’s ready, it’ll be to a family that can give her an active home and a job through a dog sport to work that intelligent brain of hers. This is no couch potato.. !!! Meantime, just feast your eyes on this gorgeous girl.”
Lucy is staying with her foster mum.
Gorgeous Lucy has passed over Rainbow Bridge.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
